Wendi Messer scored a career high 30 points today as Campbellsville's Lady Tigers improved to 17-10 (3-4 MSC) with a 105-65 win over Pikeville College.
Messer, a freshman from Barbourville, Kentucky, was 11 of 17 from the floor, including 6 of 11 from the three-point line, 2 of 2 from the free throw line and grabbed 6 rebounds in the win.
Pikeville lead only one time in the game, at 6-4 with 17:16 in the first half. From there, Campbellsville went on a 13-0 run to take a 17-6 lead with 15:06 to play in the first half and never looked back from there as they coasted to the win.
Messer was one of four Lady Tigers to score in double digits with
Alexia Williams (FR/Campbellsville, KY) getting 21 points,
Courtney Danis (FR/Mt. Sterling, KY) had 16 points and 10 rebounds and
Jenna Hedges (SR/Louisville, KY) had 10 points.
Campbellsville forced the visiting Lady Bears into 35 turnovers and scored 33 points off those turnovers and broke the century mark in scoring for the first time this season.
With Campbellsville's win, the Lady Tigers now have a one game lead in fourth place in the MSC standings over West Virginia Tech. Campbellsville trails Georgetown by one and a half games for third in the standings.
The Lady Tigers travel to Lindsey Wilson on Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
