Columbia, Kentucky - Mid-South Conference Player of the Week
Nestor Colmenares (JR/Caracas, Venezuela) scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Campbellsville beat Lindsey Wilson 55-52 in a battle of the 3rd place teams in the Mid-South Conference. With the win, Campbellsville improves to 21-7 and now has sole possession of third place in the MSC standings with a 4-4 record. The Tigers started league play with 3 straight losses earlier this year.
Campbellsville trailed by 10 points on two occasions in the first half, but cut it to three at the buzzer with a
Troy Harris (JR/Georgetown, KY) three-pointer to make it 27-24 in favor of the home team. The second half featured seven ties and eleven lead changes and Campbellsville took it's first lead 31-30 at the 17:43 mark and never led by more than 5 points in the game. The Tigers overcame a 45-40 deficit with 5:38 remaining behind clutch free-throw shooting as Campbellsville connected on a whopping 25 of 27 free-throws to seal the win. Colmenares was 15 of 17 from the free-throw line.
Campbellsville now hosts 2nd place Cumberlands on Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. in the Powell Athletic Center. Senior night activities will take place right before tip-off and will honor Long, Clinton Joshua (SR/Jennings, Antigua) and Clint Graham (SR/Campbellsville, KY).
