Campbellsville, Kentucky - The Campbellsville Unviersity Tigers took a big step towards getting back into the thick of the Mid-South Conference race today by holding off West Virginia Tech 72-66 in a game played at the Powell Athletic Center.
Campbellsville led 35-26 at halftime and withstood several runs by the Golden Bears in the second half, including one run that pulled the visitors within 2 points late in the game. However, three straight defensive stops with under 3:00 to play helped Campbellsville seal the win.
Nestor Colemenares (JR/Caracas, Venezuela) led Campbellsville with 19 points and 9 rebounds while
Deveon Jenkins (JR/Chicago, IL) added 18 points for the Tigers.
Campbellsville improves to 18-6 and is 2-3 in the Mid-South Conference. The Tigers are currently tied with Pikeville at 2-3 in the leauge. Both teams are just one game out of second place, behind Cumberlands and Lindsey Wilson who are both 3-2. Georgetown leads the MSC race with a 5-0 mark.
Campbellsville hosts Georgetown on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
