Georgetown, KY - The Campbellsville University Men's Golf team turned in a dominating performance this week in winning the Bluegrass Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Course.
Campbellsville shot a team total of 298 during Monday's opening round and followed that up with a 293 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 591 to easily outpace second place University of the Cumberlands with a 607. Cumberlands actually led the tournament 289 to 298 after the opening round but strong individual performances by the Tigers easily made up the eleven stroke deficit in the second round.
Jeffrey Gumm shot a two day total of 147 and was tied at the end of day two with C.U. teammate
Casey Young who was playing in the event as an individual. Gumm won the playoff between the two Tiger players and in doing so captured his third individual medal in as many playoffs this season.
Campbellsville's
Jeff Sullivan and
Brandon Young both shot 148 as the Tigers had the only players in the tournament to shoot under 150 for the two day event.
