Men's Basketball Falls to Pikeville in Conference Opener

Pikeville, Kentucky

After crawling back to the .500 mark, the Cambpellsville University's Men's Basketball fell at the hands of Pikeville last night.  The loss drops the Tigers to 7-8 overall and 0-1 in Mid South Conference play.  Campbellsville started the way they would have wanted opening the game with a 14-6 run, but Pikeville continued to scrape their way back into contention.  At halftime, the game appeared to be a nail biter as Campbellsville trailed by just one point.  In the second half however, the Bears of Pikeville pulled away as they outscored the Tigers 42-34.  The final score was 71-62.

For the Tigers, two players eclipsed the 20 point mark.  Zach Allender led the Campbellsville charge as he put up 24 points on 10-18 shooting.  Aaron Wyatt put up 20 points and was 5-10 from the floor.

Allender was also stellar defensively for the Tigers with four steals, and he also grabbed 15 boards, good for over fifty percent of the team's rebounds.  The Tigers shot over 48 percent from the floor in the second half and took three pointers with avengence, but it was not enough as Pikeville shot nearly sixty percent from the floor in the second half.

Campbellsville will be back at it tomorrow (January 17th) at home versus conference rival Georgetown.  Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. in the Powell Athletic Complex.
