Box Score Gustavo Valecillos scored on a free kick in the first half, but that was the only time Campbellsville got on the board Tuesday in a 1-1 tie with Oakland City University.
The Mighty Oaks tied the game 20 minutes into the second half and managed to keep the Tigers from finding the goal through regulation. An opportunity by Oakland City in overtime to win it fell short when
James Clements stopped a penalty kick attempt to maintain the tie.
The tie was Campbellsville's first of the season, and while disappointing not to have a win, Tiger head coach
Adam Preston is pleased how his team played.
"
I think it's going to be good from this step forward. For the first time this season we really showed some heart and some passion and really went out there and tried to get the game," Preston said.
CU (3-6-1) will host No. 8 University of Rio Grande on Wednesday in a Mid-South Conference game. The game is a make up game for the rained out game scheduled for Sept. 26.
