Detrick Briggs was presented with his 2009 NCCAA National Championship ring for men's outdoor track and field Dec. 10 during halftime of the women's basketball game between Campbellsville University and Midway College. Athletic Director
Rusty Hollingsworth presented Briggs with the ring during a week of national championship celebration.
Briggs won Campbellsville's first-ever National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship by finishing first in the triple jump with a distance of
13.81 meters (45-3.75 feet). He also finished eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.36 meters (20-10.50 feet).Joining Briggs during halftime was CU wrestler Zach Flake, who received his ring for winning the first Tiger wrestling NAIA national championship in 2007.
Briggs was the only NCCAA national champion for Campbellsville until the volleyball team won CU's first team national championship at the NCCAA Tournament on Dec. 5.
