Tigers get 11th win in game at Warsaw, Ky.

Campbellsville University rang up its 11th win Friday night in Warsaw, Ky. by defeating Shawnee State 75-68. It was the second time in three weeks that the Tigers (11-3) got the better of Shawnee (4-8), having defeated them 62-58 in Portsmouth, Ohio on November 24th.

Tigers' Coach Keith Adkins thinks Shawnee may be just a few pieces away from competing when they join the Mid-South Conference next season.

"They're just young," said Adkins. "They play mostly freshmen and sophomores."

Campbellsville led 29-23 at the break and pushed that lead out to 16 with about 11 minutes to go in the game, said Adkins. But after that it was a fight to the finish.

When Shawnee cut the Tiger lead to two with about five minutes to go, Shawn Savage canned a 3 and T.B. Bishop, who led all scorers with 18 points, hit four big free throws down the stretch.

"We hit 21 of 30 free throws, which isn't all that great," said Adkins. "But considering the way we had been shooting them, I guess it was pretty good."

The Tigers had four players in double figures as JaVaughn Espritt, Savage and Justin Vitatoe had 14, 12 and 11 points, respectively. Shawnee was led by Ian Nixson's 16 points.

The Tigers will take a break and return to school the day after Christmas. Their next game is Saturday, Jan. 2 when they host Union University.
