Campbellsville University handed rival Lindsey Wilson
College its seventh consecutive loss Monday, beating the Blue Raiders, 3-0, in
a Mid-South Conference match (25-13, 25-21, 25-22). The win improves CU to 4-1 in
MSC play and 3-0 at home this season.
The Lady Tigers faced little struggle with the Blue Raiders through the first
set, but Lindsey Wilson rallied to take a 20-19 lead in the second set. That's
when Samantha James hammered back-to-back kills to give the Tigers a one-point
advantage. A service error and two attack errors by Lindsey Wilson set up game-point
for the Tigers at 24-21. Caroline Martin and James blocked a Blue Raider attack
to put the second game away, 25-21.
Set three was close as well, but the Tigers maintained their
lead and put the match away, 25-22, on an attack error by the Blue Raiders.
Renee Netherton led the Tigers' offense with 14 kills, while
Caroline Martin had 28 assists and nine digs. Jovana Koprivicia had 11 digs and
two aces for CU. Shannon Cahill had eight kills and nine digs for the Tigers,
while James finished with seven kills, two solo blocks and one block assist.
Campbellsville (13-3, 4-1) travels to Wayne, Ind., Friday
and Saturday for the St. Francis College Tournament. The Lady Tigers will take
