Campbellsville University women's golf broke a school record for lowest round by five strokes Monday, shooting 317 in the first round of the Don Bishop Invitational at the Campbellsville Country Club.

The Lady Tigers' No. 5 player on the roster, Shelley  Minix shot the low score for Campbellsville at 76 and tied Lindsey Wilson College's Jessica Smith for second place.


Minix, a senior from Scottsville, Ky., shot her lowest score of her collegiate career as she dropped below 80 for the first time.

Following Minix's lead was Kaela Smith, who was tied for seventh-place with a 79. Katie White shot an 80 for Campbellsville, while Lauren Goodin shot 82. The Lady Tigers were left with only four of scores to count from their five-player roster after Amy Cline had to withdraw due to injury early in the round. CU senior Cheris Young shot 85 and was tied for 18th overall while playing as an individual.

Lindsey Wilson leads the tournament with a team score of 305 after the first round, while Blue Raider golfer Chelsey Key was low medalist with a 73.

The Don Bishop Invitational will conclude Tuesday.
