Box Score Campbellsville University's men's soccer season started fresh Wednesday with an 8-0 shutout of Pikeville College in the Tigers' Mid-South Conference opener. Three Tiger players,
Emmanuel Nfor, Ramiro Sanchez and Casey Clarke, each scored two goals to lead CU to victory, while the Tiger midfield and defense refused a single shot on goal by Pikeville.





Sanchez scored the Tigers first goal 4:26 into the game, achieving a new goal set for the team and sparking the Tigers' largest offensive production of the season. Gustavo Valecillos had the assist.

CU went on to add two goals before the half, as Alex Adams scored in the 18th minute on an assist from Rodrigo Valenzuela, and Casey Clarke headed in a shot in the 28th minute off an Adam's assist. Pikeville entered the half down 3-0 and without a single shot in the game.

The Tigers struck quickly to also open the second half as Nfor, a freshman from Frankfort, Ky, found the back of the net just 2:23 out of the break on an assist from Clarke. Nfor later slid behind the Pikeville defense and scored at the back post off a set piece from Camilo Muller in the 69th minute. Clarke and Sanchez's second goals also came off Muller assists in the 52nd and 63rd minutes, respectively. The Tigers' eighth goal came when a Pikeville defender's attempt to clear a shot by Muller said over his head and into the goal in the 71st minute. The game was called shortly thereafter due to lightning.

James Clements picked up his first shutout of the season for Campbellsville, as he did face a shot in the 71:47 of game time. Sheldon Thomas played the first 69 minutes for Pikeville, allowing seven goals and collecting three saves.

CU (3-4, 1-0 MSC) hosts the University of Rio Grande on Saturday at 2 p.m.
