CU blanks West Virginia Tech for third MSC win

Box Score It took until midway through the second half, but a single goal is all Campbellsville University needed to take down West Virginia University Tech on Saturday, 1-0.

Jamie Allen netted the winner off an assist from Gustavo Valecillos, while James Clements had three saves in goal for the shutout win.

The goal is No. 15 this year for Allen, who is now two goals behind MSC leader Carnell Learmond of Lindsey Wilson College.

"We knew coming out here that we'd be a little out of our element with officials and with it being a long drive," CU head coach Adam Preston said. "They made it the game they wanted it to be and we played it they're way. We had to fight for the win, but we got it."

It was a foul happy game for the two teams, with one Tiger being slapped with a red card. Casey Clarke was sent off the field and will miss the game against Georgetown College on Thursday.

Campbellsville (11-3, 3-3) is currently fifth in the Mid-South Conference, but can gain ground this week with a home game against Georgetown College on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. and a trip to Shawnee State University (3-2 MSC) Oct. 23.
