Lady Tigers fall to Cumberlands in OT

Box Score Megan Campbell scored two goals for Campbellsville, but University of the Cumberlands put an end to CU's run of shutouts with a 3-2 win in overtime Tuesday.

The Central City, Ky., native scored quickly with a one-on-one with the keeper in the third minute to put Cambellsville on the board, 1-0. However, Patriots leading scorer Ginger Johnson evened the score 1:20 later.

Campbell extended the Lady Tigers in the 55th minute off an assist by Kelsey Mandel, but again Cumberlands managed to tie the game. With 14:19 remaining, Jamie Roberts netted the equalizer for the Patriots.

In overtime, Cumberlands fired off two shots. The first was off the post and the second was the golden goal by Anna Marie Stegena for the win and to move Cumberlands (3-5-2, 2-1 MSC) past Campbellsville (6-5-0, 2-2 MSC) in the MSC standings.

CU keeper Brandie Hagerman had seven saves in the loss, while Cumberlands keeper Brittany Gadd also had seven.

Campbellsville returns to action Thursday in a road game at Midway College. Start time is 4 p.m.
