White leads Lady Tiger golfers to 12th place finish in NKU golf tourney

CU's women's golfers climbed to a 12th place finish in the 21-team Northern Kentucky University Spring Invitational at Perry Park Golf Course in Perry Park, Ky. over the weekend.

The Lady Tigers rallied from an opening round 332 to shoot 328 (660) on day two, just seven strokes out of a top 10 finish.

Lindsey Wilson won the two-day event with a team score of 613.

Katie White, a freshman from Prince Edward Island, Canada,  secured the low individual score for CU with a 78-82 (160).

"Katie played really well," said Lady Tiger coach Lindsay Hines. "But as a team I am very happy. Four of the six girls who played were freshmen and we competed against all NCAA Div. 2 schools and Lindsay Wilson."

Kaela Smith, a junior for Elizabethtown, Ky., 85-79 (164), Lauren Goodin, a freshman from Columbia, Ky.,  82-86 (168) and Shelly Minix, a senior from Scottsville, Ky., 87-81 (168), finished out the team total. Other players posting scores were: McLane Farr, a freshman from West Paducah, Ky., 87-87 (174) and Amy Cline, a freshman from Scottsville, (92-91 (183).

Campbellsville will hit the links again on April 5-6 when the Lady Tigers play an the Bluegrass Spring Classic at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky.
