Campbellsville University is four strokes out of the lead in the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational women's golf tournament. The Lady Tigers shot 330 during Thursday's first round at Crooked Creek Golf Club in London, Ky.
Katie White a freshman from Prince Edward Island, sits two strokes out of the individual lead after shooting a 79 to lead Campbellsville. She follows Lindsey Wilson College's Chelsey Key (77) and University of the Cumberlands golfer Laura Beth Harris (78).
Lauren Goodin sits in sixth with an 81, while
Kaela Smith and
Shelly Minix shot 84 and 86, respectively.
Lindsay Jones was the sixth
golfer the Campbellsville, shooting 97 on the 6,808-yard, par-73
course.
Cumberlands leads the team competition with a score of 326. Lindsey Wilson is in second with a score of 328. Georgetown College sits 11 strokes back of Campbellsville in fourth place, while St. Catharine College is 120 strokes out of the lead in fifth.
The tournament concludes Friday with the title up for grabs between Campbellsville, Lindsey Wilson and Cumberlands. Lindsey Wilson won the MSC fall event in Campbellsville.
