Campbellsville University rallied from two strokes back of second to
take the runner-up spot in the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational
women's golf tournament Saturday in London, Ky.
"We finished strong," said a pleased Lady Tiger coach Lindsay Newton.
"Friday we kind of fell apart late in the round, but today we had three
birdies and an eagle over the last two holes."
CU freshman
Katie White, from Prince Edward Island, who was in third
place overall after the first round, won medalist in a three-hole
playoff - carding all pars.
White tied with Cumberlands' McKinzie Price and Lindsey Wilson's Chelsey Key and Kelsey Joslyn. Key and Joslyn were eliminated after the first playoff hole and White then beat Price on the third hole.
University of the Cumberlands won with a 643 after leading after day one by four shots. Campbellsville shot seven strokes better the second day and nipped Lindsey Wilson for second by eight shots. CU shot a 353 and Lindsey 661.
"We had seven girls playing and no one shot over an 84," said Hines.
On day two, White had a 78 to go with her round-one 79. Other team scores included
Shelly Minix, 86-80,
Kaela Smith 84-83,
Lauren Goodin 81-84. Individuals were
Lindsay Jones 97-82, McLain Farr 88-80 and
Jordan Johnson 91-83.
Saturday the team travels to Danville for a one-day Old Bridge Spring Invitational.
