Things didn't quite go as planned for Campbellsville University women's golf Monday, as the Lady Tigers finished the opening round of the Don Bishop Invitational 23 strokes out of first place.
Lauren Goodin led Campbellsville with an even-par 37 on the front nine, but finished nine-over on the back nine to shoot an 81 for the round. It would be the Lady Tigers' best score of the day, as CU's top golfer
Katie White shot an 86 to sit tied for 15th overall.
Kaela Smith sits in the Top 10 overall with an 83 and
Kayla Kincer rounded out the Lady Tigers' team score of 338 with an 88. Freshman golfer Meleigha Pollock, granddaughter of former CU athletic director Don Bishop, shot a 91 in her first collegiate round at her home course.
Campbellsville also had five golfers compete as individuals, led by
Amy Cline with an 86 to tie White at No. 15.
Lindsay Harris shot a 90, followed by a 91 from
Jordan Johnson, a 98 from
McLane Farr and a 99 from
Joy Carter.
Bethel College of Indiana leads the tournament with a team score of 315 and three golfers below 80, including tournament leader Kaelyn Lingenfelter (75). Lindsey Wilson is in second with a score of 325.
Goodin's front nine score of 37 was the best of the day on the front nine.
The tournament will conclude Tuesday with a shoutgun start in the morning.
