Box Score Campbellsville (8-2, 1-2) scored a 4-1 soccer victory over St. Catharine College Tuesday, but coach
Adam Preston was unimpressed.
"We played 10 minutes, maybe, the way we need to play," said Preston.
Four players tallied for the Tigers.
Jamie Allen, off a
Ramiro Sanchez assist, got things started. Allen's netter occurred at the 13-minute mark. Seven minutes later Sanchez took a free kick from
Gustavo Valecillos for a 2-0 lead.
Valecillos took a pass three minutes into the second half from
Drew Sin for the third Tiger score and then
John Kennedy headed a corner kick by Pontus Yngue for CU's final score three minutes later.
St. Catharine scored with 30 minutes to go in the game when Sam Kapoli was assisted by Eddie Wieto.
"Give credit to St. Catharine," said Preston. "We had a four-goal lead, but they fought hard and made it difficult for us."
"We have to play better," said Preston. "We flashed some signs that we can play. But we had too many defensive lapses and we're not passing the ball the way we need to."
Campbellsville, which is licking some injuries, won't get back on the game field until October 6 when the Tigers host University of the Cumberlands at 7:30 at Finley Stadium.Â
