Katie
White and
Kaela Smith tied each other for third place individually, while
Campbellsville University women's golf mirrored its first round score Friday to
finish second at the Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Course.
CU shot 326 during Thursday's first round, 15 strokes off
the lead behind Lindsey Wilson College. The Lady Tigers were only 13 strokes
behind the Blue Raiders Friday, but another 326 score kept CU from gaining much
more ground on LWC. Campbellsville claims its runner-up finish with a two-day
score of 652, while Lindsey Wilson shot 624.
White shot 82 on the first day to sit in a tie for seventh individually, while
Smith shot 78 and 80 in her two rounds. Both finished at 158 in the two rounds
combined.
"We have solid leadership on this year's squad," CU head coach Lindsey Hines
said. "Kaela and Katie lead the Lady Tigers to a second place finish."
Kayla Kincer was third for CU and finished 12th individually with a
168. Lauren Goodin followed in a tie for third place at 13th at 169.
CU's Amy Cline rounded out the scoring with a 182.
"I was very impressed with the composure of freshman Kayla Kincer of
Elizabethtown, Ky. She competed like a veteran, and was a contributing factor
to our success," Hines said.
University of the Cumberlands finished third as a team, 10 strokes behind Campbellsville.
CU returns to action Sept. 16-17 at the Mid-South Conference
Fall Tournament, which will be hosted by Lindsey Wilson College at the Pines in
Columbia, Ky.
