With a long drive ahead of them Thursday night, the Campbellsville University Lady Tiger volleyball team made short order of Cumberland University in a non-conference match at Powell Athletic Center.
Shannon Cahill and
Genevieve Collette led Campbellsville's attack with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Cahill led CU in total points scored, as she added two aces and two assisted blocks. Collette had 12 points total, as did
Samantha James, who collected seven kills, an ace and four assisted blocks.
Caroline Martin had 38 assists for the Lady Tigers. Defensively, the digs were spread throughout the lineup, with
Audrey Sanders leading the way at 13 digs, followed by
Monica Chernichan's nine, eight from Martin, six from Cahill and five from Lexi Lloyd.
It was the Lady Tigers' eighth consecutive match victory and extends their consecutive set win streak to 18.
Campbellsville (14-3) hit the road after the match to compete Friday and Saturday at the Indiana Tech Tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Lady Tigers will face Lourdes College and the University of Northwestern-Ohio on Friday at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and then will face No. 22 Olivet Nazarene University at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. match against No. 14 Indiana Tech.
