SAVANNAH, Ga. - Lady Tiger volleyball left Campbellsville on Thursday with Georgia on their minds. But after the first day of play in the SCAD Tournament they may be trying to clear their minds, losing three- and four-set matches against Bethel and Union University.
It won't get any easier for CU with Saturday matches against Ave Maria (9:00) and Montreat (1:00).
The losses dropped Campbellsville's record to 12-11, 5-1 with a string of six important conference matches between Oct. 20-27.
Against Bethel, CU lost 29-31, 22-25 and 27-29. The Lady Tigers had a lackluster attack percentage of 107 and were out-blocked 12-2.
Monica Chernichan led the team with 13 kills and
Shannon Cahill with 10.
Lilian DaSilva had 16 assists and
Jackie Schwieger 13. Cahill led the team in digs with 13 with 11 each by Schwieger and
Audrey Sanders.
Campbellsville won the first set against Union 25-10, but then lost three consecutive sets, 20-25, 20-25 and 22-25.
Chernichan and Cahill each had 11 kills with
Genevieve Collette and
Laura DeGear collecting 10 and nine, respectively. DaSilva and Schwieger had 41 of the team's 47 assists.
Caitlin Dresing led CU with 23 digs followed by Cahill (14), Schwieger (12) and 10 each by Sanders and DaSilva.
