Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. --Campbellsville University sophomore
Jessica Ralph netted the neutralizer and the eventual game-winner Wednesday night in a 3-1 women's soccer victory over St. Catharine College at Finley Stadium and HIG Field. The win ties the Lady Tigers' program record for most wins in a regular season, as CU improves to 11-4 on the season.
Despite the Lady Tigers controlling possession most of the first half, St. Catharine got on the scoreboard first in the 19th minute on a goal by Sarah Castillo, assisted by Michelle Dunaway.
Ralph evened the score with 5:55 remaining in the first half to send the game into halftime tied 1-1.
In the second half, Campbellsville controlled the game, collecting 13 shots to the Patriots' two. Ralph had two shots saved early in the second half before giving the Lady Tigers' the lead in the 70th minute. She nearly had a hat trick later in the game, but SCC keeper Lindsey Vinson jumped for the save.
Megan Campbell tallied her 37th career goal in the 83rd minute on a penalty kick after being taken down inside the top, left edge of the box.
The penalty kick makes goal No. 13 of the season for Campbell, tying her single-season best from last season and the CU single-season record, which is also shared by Laura Swencki (2009). Ralph is closing in on Campbell's team lead, now with 12 goals this season.
Hagerman collected a couple of shots wide of the net, but had no saves in the win. Vinson stopped eight of the 11 shots she faced in goal for the Patriots.
Campbellsville (11-4) will travel to the University of Rio Grande for a Mid-South Conference game Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live on iHigh.com/CampbellsvilleTigers by the Rio Grande sports information department.
