PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - Campbellsville shook off a sluggish start Saturday morning, rallying from a one-set deficit, to pin a 3-1 defeat on Shawnee State University - 16-25, 25-22, 25-21 and 25-23.
"We never really got into a rhythm," said Coach Amy Eckenfels after her team had vacated the court following two road matches in the span of 17 hours. "But we just continued to fight and kept the ball in play so they could make an error."
Genevieve Collette led the Lady Tiger attack with 14 kills and allowed CU (18-11, 8-1) to remain tied in the loss column with West-Division-leading Lindsey Wilson College.
"Gen has played a big role in pushing us through matches like today," praised Eckenfels. "Being a go-to player on offense, playing very smart and mixing up her attacks."
Fellow Canadian,
Monica Chernichan, added 10 kills,
Laura DeGear had nine and
Samantha James (6) and
Shannon Cahill (4) collectively tacked on 10 more.
Lilian DaSilva (26) and
