Tigers rally for 4-3 overtime victory in MSC Quarterfinals

Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The Campbellsville University men's soccer team had a flair for the dramatic during last season's postseason. The Tigers continued the trend with a 4-3 overtime win at Shawnee State University in the Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinals Saturday.

"We didn't play great today, but we fought hard the whole game and trusted in each other. When you do that, you get results," said Adam Preston, CU head coach.

The Tigers trailed 1-0 at the half and found themselves down 3-1 in the second half. Jordan Adams got the Tigers on the board in the 65th as Pontus Yngve assisted on the Tiger goal. After the Bears scored their third goal of the game, Adams dished out an assist of his own to Ramiro Sanchez.

With the Tiger deficit cut to one, 3-2, Tomas Arocha tallied the game tying goal with 10 seconds left in regulation.

The game winner for the Tigers came from sophomore defenseman John Kennedy, who had not scored a single point all season. Kennedy headed in a corner kick for the win in the 95th minute.

The win sets up a rematch with top-ranked Lindsey Wilson College, whom narrowly defeated CU (8-9-2) in the regular season finale by a score of 2-1. The semi-final matchup will take place Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the University of Rio Grande at 5 p.m. ET.
