GULF SHORES, Ala. - Campbellsville rallied on Friday to even its first-day record in the Gulf Coast Invitational with a 3-1 win over Montreat after dropping its opening game, 3-1, to Freed Hardeman.
At this point last season the Lady Tiger Softball team had five more wins and five fewer losses. Statistics don't always tell the whole story, but the Lady Tigers had also scored 18 more runs and allowed 24 fewer in 17 games.

The Lady Tigers could manage but two hits off Freed's Sarah Elizabeth Cousan. Emma Napier singled in the sixth, stole second and was plated by Jennifer England's double.
Amber VanSandt hit a three-run homer for Freed in their three-run fifth.
Martina Riney pitched four innings of two hit ball, striking out three. Courtney Turpin pitched the final three innings and allowed only two hits as well.
Against Montreat, CU got seven strong innings from Turpin where she gave up three hits, but struck out 12.
Campbellsville scored solo runs in the first three innings before allowing a run in the sixth.
One of the runs came on a Morgan Bullock home run. Becca Cook had a double and Napier, England, Kacie Vincent and Alyssa Barker had singles.
CU opens pool play on Saturday with noon matchup against William Carey and Columbia (Mo.) College at 4:00.
