GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Campbellsville rapped 13 hits in two games, but they were all singles, and Lady Tiger Softball lost two to Georgetown, 3-2, 6-2. on Tuesday.
The losses were the 11th and 12th in 15 outings for CU and gives them an 0-2 start in Mid-South play.
Courtney Turpin gave up only five hits in shouldering the 3-2, game-1 loss. Turpin wasn't helped by three Tiger fielding errors.
Georgetown led 3-0 before CU plated two runs in the top of the sixth.
Bailey Dillender and Jordan Cornet had two-hit games with
Kacie Vincent and Alex Jane Clements collecting the other two safeties.
In game 2, the Lady Tigers tied it at 2-2 after their half of the second, but that would be their last scoring. Georgetown went ahead 4-2 in the bottom of the second and scored two insurance runs in the fifth.
Taylor Wroe started for CU and pitched two innings - allowing five hits and three runs. She was relieved by
Martina Riney, who also gave up three runs and three hits in four innings of work.
Emma Napier had three of the Lady Tigers' seven hits. Vincent, Dillender,
Jennifer England and
Becca Cook getting the other four.
It doesn't get any easier for Campbellsville as they head out on a spring break trip to Gulf Shores, Ala. and three days of play in the Gulf Coast Invitational (with opponents yet to be named. They will return home on the March 17 for a double header with St. Catharine, starting at 2:00.
