Tigers fifth after day one of SEKI Invitational

LONDON, Ky. -- Campbellsville University sits in fifth place after the first round of the SEKI Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Club on Thursday. The Tigers shot 311, sitting six strokes behind third-place Transylvania University and 11 strokes behind University of the Cumberlands for second place. Lindenwood University leads the field of 18 teams with a first-round score of 296.


Scores were high across the board, as Justin Tereshko of Transylvania was the only golfer to shoot below par with a 71.

Trey Shirley led the Tigers with a 76 to finish 4 over in the opening round and is tied for 14th, while Scott Foster was one stroke back with a 77 and tied for 23rd. Cory Prewitt and Quinn Cole rounded out the team scores to each shoot a 79 and tie for 32nd place. Logan Griffin shot 87 as the fifth Tiger on the team.

Foster shot even par on 13 of his 18 holes, the most par putts by a Tiger in the tournament.

In individual action, Ryan Flanagan fired a 78 to tie for 28th after round one.

"The guys fought hard today in terrible conditions. Scores were up but they really worked hard through the snow, sleet and rain," CU coach Kenny Lawson said.

The tournament resumes Friday at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
