Tiger Soccer unable to rally at Cumberland University

Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. -- Campbellsville University men's soccer was unable to overcome a 2-0 halftime deficit Tuesday, as the Tigers fell, 2-1, at Cumberland University in a non-conference match.
 

Casey Clarke scored the lone Tiger goal in the 72nd minute with an unassisted strike from 20 yards out. Following the goal, it was all Tigers, as Campbellsville had six more shots in the final 18 minutes, including two in the final four minutes. Two of the closest opportunites to a tie game came when Clarke had a shot saved in the 83rd minute and Mario Renteria had one blocked in the 87th minute.

Clarke led the Tigers with five total shots and four on goal, while Renteria was second on the team with four shots and two on goal. Jordan Adams had three shots with one on target.

The Tigers out shot Cumberland 18 to 12 in the loss. Campbellsville did not allow a Cumberland shot on goal in the second half.

Robert Boyd scored both goals for Cumberland (3-2-1), first in the 17th minute and then again in the 34th minute. Harry Mason and Bradley Wilson assisted the first goal, while Nathan Gillespie threw in the ball that was headed for the second goal.

Aaron Steele had three saves for the Tigers. Cumberland split time between Matthew Shattuck, who had four saves in more than 66 minutes played, and Ian Hamilton, who allowed one goal and had two saves in the final 23:30 of the game.
Campbellsville (0-3-1) will travel to Thomas More (4-0) Friday for a 5 p.m. game.
