GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Front-running Lee University was 10 shots worse on the second day of the Bluegrass Fall Classic, but Campbellsville's women could not put a big enough dent in their 19-shot lead and ended up right where they started after the first of the two-day event, in second place.
"Wind made the course play long today," said CU Coach Lindsay Hines. "We didn't hit a lot of greens and, unfortunately, didn't make a lot of putts that we should have made.
"But, we were able to see clearly what areas of our game need the most work and will try to use that to help us improve."
Played at Cherry Blossom Golf Course,
Caitlyn Wilkerson followed up her first-day 80 with a second-round 81 to lead the Lady Tigers to their 342-stroke second-day total, seven shots worse than their first-day 335. Wilkerson ended up in third place at 161, five shots out of medalist won by Lee's Geandra Almeida, who shot 156 (76-80). Wilkerson was bnamed to the All-Tournament Team.
CU's
Katie White finished in fifth place at 166 (80-86) and
Kayla Kincer slid into the top 10 at 176 (87-89).
Jordan Johnson had a second-round 93 to edge teammate
McLane Farr by one shot. Farr was 10 strokes better than her first-day total, shooting 86 on day two for a 182 total.
The women will travel to McDermott, Ohio on Oct. 6-7 for the two-day Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament played at the Elks Country Club.
