Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Campbellsville University was consistent on offense Saturday, collecting 16 shots and placing nearly every other one on goal. However the Tigers were unable to push a ball past Mount Vernon Nazarene University goal keeper Ryan Swartzentruber, who posted seven saves in a 1-0 victory over Campbellsville in the final game of the First-Knox Cougar Invitational.

With returning National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-American defender John Kennedy back in the starting lineup for CU, the Tigers allowed six shots on goal. Five of those were stopped by sophomore goalie Kyle Thomas. The Cougars' Eric Appiah slipped a goal past Thomas in the 43rd minute with an assist from Chris Allen. While getting pressure in the first half, Kennedy and the Tigers' defense helped Thomas out by allowing only one shot on goal in the second period.
True freshman Jordan Adams led the Tigers with five shots and two on goal and Casey Clarke also had two shots on goal for CU.
Campbellsville (0-2) will travel to Berea College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. ET start in the Mountaineers' home opener.
