BARDSTOWN, Ky. – Katie White topped nearly every category of scoring en route to winning the women's golf St. Catharine College Fall Invitational at Maywood Country Club.
As a team, Campbellsville University closed its fall season in second-place behind Lindsey Wilson College after shooting 342 score on Monday. Campbellsville shot the lowest score of the round Tuesday at 332.
"I'm really proud of our girls. The shot the low round of the second day and really battled hard," said Brent Vernon, CU women's golf coach. "We just got to keep working and get to where we can put two good days together back-to-back."
White overcame some early struggles to shoot 80 on Tuesday. She scored the best in the tournament on Par 4 and Par 5 holes, while finishing the entire tournament with five birdies and 19 pars through 36 holes of golf. Her two-day score was 154 to win medalist honors by four strokes of Lindsey Wilson College's Kelsey Joslyn.
"Katie played great these last two days. She struggled early on, but composed herself and settled in and played the last 12 holes really well," Vernon said.
White was one of three Lady Tigers on the All-Tournament team, joined by Meleigha Pollock in fifth-place individually and Caitlyn Wilkerson in sixth. Pollock led all golfers in the second round with a 76 after firing 91 on Monday. Wilkerson shot 87-85 in the tournament.
"Meleigha has been pushing to break 80, and I'm very happy for her to finally do that. Caityln keeps getting better. I wish our semester wasn't ending, but we have ended on a good note, and have good momentum going into the spring season," Vernon said.
McLane Farr shot 91 and Leslie Hastings shot 102 on Tuesday for CU.
The Lady Tigers will resume the 2012-2013 season in March.
