Box Score

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Campbellsville University men's soccer team ended regular season play tonight with a 3-1 victory over the University of the Cumberlands. The win supports a third-place finish in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) entering tournament play next week.

"This was a big win for the team and the program," said head coach Adam Preston. "With this win we finish third in the conference behind number one,Rio Grande and number two, Lindsey Wilson. It is a testament to their hard work and commitment to one another. Hopefully we still have a long way to go."

The Patriots made some noise early as sophomore forward Daniel Ferreira scored in the seventh minute. It seemed that the Tigers were going to end the half scoreless, but they finally capitalized on a shot in the last 20 seconds with a goal from sophomore midfielder Andrew Nugent.

The late first-half goal carried over to the second period. It took only two minutes for freshman forward Roraigh Yearwood to find the back of the net, bringing the score to 2-1 Tigers. The goal was Yearwood's 10th on the season. Junior Camilo Roman followed, scoring his second career goal in the 71st minute.

Cumberlands keeper, Dwayne Tucker had six saves, while Campbellsville keeper Max Malachiyev totaled four.

The Tigers (12-4-1, 7-2 MSC) will enter the Mid-South Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Cumberland University (5-8-1, 3-5 MSC) in a first-round Saturday, Nov. 3 at Finley Stadium and Citizens Bank Field. Game time is not yet determined.

The top eight teams in the MSC regular season advance to the conference tournament, with the final four teams playing Nov. 8-9 at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky., for the semifinals and championship.
