FORT WAYNE, Ind. — CU Volleyball jumped from the frying pan into the fire in the first round of the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament held Friday at host Indiana Tech University.

After dropping a disappointing five-setter against No. 15 Georgetown on Tuesday, the Lady Tigers found themselves across the net from No. 17 Madonna.
Campbellsville vs. Madonna
The Lady Crusaders (19-4) held off a game Tiger squad in four sets, 24-26, 25-21, 22-25 and 28-30.
Rinata Aisena had 19 kills and nine services aces in the match. Daiane Souza led the team with 14 kills, Haley Bechtel had 11 and Kelly Moyer six. Caitlin Dresing led Campbellsville, 14-6 (5-2 MSC), with 25 digs. Kira Stewart, who also had 21 assists, had eight, digs, Bechtel six and Aisena and Audrey Sanders five each. Jackie Schwieger had 13 assists.
Madonna led the kill department 52-43 as CU hit a paltry .088 on the attack.
The Lady Tigers had a 10-5 lead in the fourth set, but Madonna scored 10 of the next 11 points. A service and attack error allowed the Lady Crusaders to escape the deciding set 30-28.
Campbellsville vs. Ashford
Campbellsville (15-6, 5-2 MSC) was able to gain a split of Day-1 matches with a five-set win over Ashford, 30-28, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 15-12.
Rinata Aisena led CU's 71-kill attack with 14. Laura DeGear had 13, Kelly Moyer 12, Haley Bechtel 11, Daiane Souza 10, Giselle Hernandez five and Jana Kortas four.
Kira Stewart (32) and Jackie Schwieger (27) shared 57 of the team's 61 assists. Caitlin Dresing led the way with 29 digs and Audrey Sanders had 24. Bechtel and Schwieger had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
The tournament continues on Saturday with CU matching up against St. Ambrose at noon and the host Indiana Tech squad at 2:30.
