LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In volleyball sometimes it's the small things that count.
Georgetown (33-3) had four more kills (60-56) than Campbellsville and GC defeated the Lady Tigers Saturday in five sets, 15-11 in the fifth, in the semifinals of the MSC Tournament at MidAmerica Sports Center.
Georgetown will meet Lindsey Wilson for the tournament title.
The teams see-sawed back and fourth for four sets, Campbellsville (25-10) winning the first and third (25-20 and 25-21) while Georgetown won the second and fourth (25-23 and 25-13).
In the deciding set, CU rallied from a 4-6 deficit to lead 10-9, but a service error and an attack error gave Georgetown the momentum to close out the match. Kelly Moyer, who had a team-high 16 kills, tied the fifth at 11-all only to see GC reel off four straight points to close out the match.
Georgetown was the beast of the Mid-South, going undefeated in the regular season and owning five- and three-set wins over Campbellsville.
In addition to Moyer's 16 kills, Rinata Aisena and Laura DeGear had 15 and 14, respectively.
Georgetown's hitting percentage was .220 while Campbellsville attacked at a .199 clip.
Giselle Hernandez led the team with 17 digs and got support from Caitlin Dresing and Audrey Sanders with 16 each.
Kira Stewart (27) and Jackie Schwieger (27) shared 49 assists.
Campbellsville led 20-16 in a second-set loss to Georgetown, but could not close out that very important part of the match.
