CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — After Day 1 of the NCCAA Mid-East Region Volleyball Tournament, Campbellsville finds itself in the catbird seat.
The Lady Tigers (27-10) defeated Union University in four sets and swept Covenant to reach the championship match at 3:00 on Saturday. Someone will have to beat CU twice to deny the Lady Tigers a third regional title in four years. An "if necessary" match is scheduled for 5:00.
Rinata Aisena had a two match, 33-point night in leading CU. Campbellsville beat Union 25-18, 18-25, 25-22 and 25-22 before shutting down Covenant 25-20, 25-19 and 25-16.

Aisena had 18 kills in this match and got ample support from Kelly Moyer (10) and Laura DeGear (15). Moyer also slipped in two service aces to go along with 13 points. DeGear totaled 16 points.
Kira Stewart (33) and Jackie Schwieger (16) shared the 49 assists. Audrey Sanders had 17 digs and Lexis Lloyd (15) and Haley Bechtel (11) reached double figures in that statistical category.
Campbellsville vs. Covenant
Daiane Souza erupted for 14 kills and accounted for 15 points to lead CU. Laura DeGear had 12 kills and 14 points, Kelly Moyer 13 kills and 16 points and Rinata Aisena nine kills and 11 points in the 52-kill match.
Audrey Sanders had three service aces and her 11 digs. Three others had double-figure digs: Lexis Lloyd 13, and Giselle Hernandez and Haley Bechtel with 12 each. Kira Stewart was credited with 44 assists.
The winner of the regional tournament punches a ticket to the national tournament scheduled for Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in Kissimmee, Fla.
