Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University turned a once 21-point deficit into a chance for a comeback win Saturday, but fell to Faulkner University, 31-24, on Senior Day.
Freshman receiver Jared Harrington posted a career day to lead CU's offense with 100 yards on four catches, all setting up Tiger touchdowns in the second half.

After Faulkner opened the second half with a touchdown to go up, 28-7, Harrington helped lead the charge with two acrobatic receptions from Bryan Parnes of 25 and 27 yards. The 52 yards of offense helped set up a first-and-goal at the 5, followed by back-to-back Faulkner penalties. Seth McFerrin capped the 69-yard drive with a 1-yard TD run off the left hip of tight end Will Warf. Casey Clarke's extra point cut the deficit in half, 28-14.
The Fighting Tigers went on to outscore Faulkner, 10-3, in the fourth quarter, starting with a 45-yard field goal by Casey Clarke. The three points pulled CU within 11, but Hunter Kennamer responded with a 33-yard field goal for the Eagles.
With 3:47 remaining, Parnes found Harrington again, this time on a 29-yard touchdown to pull within seven. Erik Krivitsky executed two successful onsides kick tries, the first being negated by a penalty, to give CU one last shot with 3:46 remaining. However, the Tigers were held at midfield after six plays, giving the ball back to the Eagles to run down the clock.
The first quarter was a gridlock, with CU winning the battle for field position, due in large part to the punting of Krivitsky, who finished the game with an average of 45.4 yards on nine points. His 409 yards punting were the second most in program history, including a 66-yarder in the first half that pinned Faulkner at its own 3.
Clarke attempted to put the Tigers on the scoreboard first on CU's fourth possession of the game, but his try at a record-breaking 53-yard field goal pushed wide right despite having plenty of distance. Faulkner later scored its first touchdown while facing fourth-and-5 at the Tigers'Â 39. Josh Hollingsworth connected on a pass to Radarius Owens, who slipped past Percy Minor to catch the ball at the 10 and fought his way into the end zone with 3:12 remaining in the first half.
Hollingsworth added another TD pass with 11:12 remaining in the first half and the fumbled at the Eagles' 1, which was recovered by Nick Reed for the Tigers' first score. Faulkner ended the first half with a 10-yard touchdown run by David Amos with 3:55 to play, up 21-7 entering halftime.
While CU dropped its first Senior Day in five years, the Tigers continued to win the turnover battle in the series with Faulkner, forcing two fumbles and intercepting one pass in the game. Unfortunately for the Tigers, all of the turnovers came in the first half.
Brandon Brown led the charge on turnovers, forcing and recovering a fumble at the Tiger 3 in the first half and then intercepting a Faulkner pass in the end zone in the third quarter.
Minor led all players with a career-high 10 solo tackles and 14 total, tied with Reed's 14 total hits.
McFerrin joined Harrington in collecting a career-high on offense. After rushing for a career-high 83 yards last week, the junior from Old Hickory, Tenn., carried the ball 20 times for 99 yards Saturday.
Hollingsworth returned from injury to throw for 511 yards, completing 43-of-72 passes to help Faulkner clinch its first winning season in program history. Faulkner (6-4) added football in 2007.
Campbellsville (2-8) will travel to Bluefield College (0-10) Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. EST to close the 2012 season.
