LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville survived its quarterfinal match with Shawnee State in the Mid-South Conference Tournament at the MidAmerica Sports Center, 25-18, 25-16 and 25-20
Laura DeGear had a match-high 12 kills for Campbellsville (25-9, 11-4).
The Lady Tigers scooted to a 9-6 lead in set one and built a 20-12 lead, closing out the first set 25-18.
In set two, CU took control at 10-9 and never relinquished the lead. Rinata Aisena, who had 11 kills in the match, spiked one for an 18-12 advantage and Kelly Moyer's service ace closed it out 25-16.
Shawnee (22-13, 10-4) held on until a 15-15 tie was broken in the third set when Daiane Souza dinked a kill. DeGear added a couple more and when the dust settled CU forced a SSU timeout at 19-15. The Lady Tigers got a point out of that break and then a Giselle Hernandez block put CU in a commanding lead at 21-15.
Moyer added eight kills to the 41 put up by her team. Kira Stewart (15) and Jackie Schwieger (14) had 29 of the team's 33 assists. Caitlin Dresing led everyone with 17 digs. Audrey Sanders added eight.
Campbellsville will play regular season champion Georgetown College at noon on Saturday.
