Women's golf sixth after first round in Rome, Ga.

ROME, Ga. - In their first outing of the spring, Campbellsville University's women's golf stands in sixth place at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational, hosted by Berry College at the Coosa Country Club.

Junior Katie White led the Lady Tigers with an 81 (42-39), good for a 13th place tie with University of the Cumberland's Laura Beth Harris.

"It was a promising start to the season," said Coach Lindsay Hines. "Our scores don't accurately reflect how well we hit the ball today."

Lee University leads the tourney at 309.

The second round will be played tomorrow.

"We had good weather and great competition," Hines continued. "Just needed a few more putts to fall."
