Tigers finish third in MSC Spring Golf Tournament

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Campbellsville University moved past St. Catharine College to finish third in the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament on Tuesday at the Cattails at Meadowview Resort.



The Tigers entered the day with two players within three strokes of the lead and both finished in the Top 10. Trey Shirley shot three-under par Tuesday to finish -4 for the tournament with a 138, but he finished third overall. Aaron Watkins and Matt Walton of the University of the Cumberlands each shot 65 on Tuesday to shoot 133 and 137, respectively, for the tournament.

Scott Foster and Myles Ashley each shot 74 Tuesday. Foster finished ninth overall with a two-day score of 145, while Ashley finished with a two-day score of 154. Brandon Collier shot a 77 in the second round and finished third among the Tiger golfers with a 150. Jacob Sims shot 77 and 78 in the two rounds.

Cumberlands won the tournament with a combined 20-under par (548) after shooting 269, 15-under par, Tuesday. Lindsey Wilson College was second in the tournament with a two-day score of 574. Campbellsville shot 584.

The win gives the Patriots the regular season Mid-South Conference championship, having also won the fall tournament. Lindsey Wilson finishes second in the men's golf regular season standings.

Campbellsville will return to action April 23-24 in the Mid-South Conference Championship at Maywood Country Club in Bardstown, Ky.
