Lady Tigers' second half effort falls short

Box Score

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Lady Tigers fought for a comeback this afternoon against Roberts Wesleyan College, but were unable to pull out a win, losing 3-2 to the Redhawks. Head Coach Thom Jones is satisfied with the team's second-half performance.

"We started out slow and they scored two quick goals on us," said Jones. "Once we settled down, we started playing well and possessing the ball. It was a battle to the end. My girls never gave up, and I'm proud of them for it."

Campbellsville struggled in the first half, as two goals were scored by Ellie Swan and Briana Tata in the 11th and 17th minute minute. Brittany Kinmond assisted both goals. After the 15-minute break, the Lady Tigers came out ready to fight as senior midfielder, Cassie Yannelli scored in the first 10 minutes with an assist from junior forward Jessica Ralph. Roberts Wesleyan wasn't shaken though, as Swan responded with an assist to Vanessa Sell in the 77th minute with another Redhawk goal.

Ralph managed her second assist of the day with only three minutes left in the game, firing a pass to sophomore midfielder, Alex Shaffer, who scored her first career goal.

Brandie Hagerman had three saves in net for Campbellsville and Breanna Maggio had five for Roberts Wesleyan.
