Tigers fall 3-0 to Martin Methodist

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University men's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net Saturday afternoon at Citizen's Bank Field in Finley Stadium, as Martin Methodist College came out on top of the Tigers, 3-0.



 

Martin Methodist used two first half goals to jump ahead of Campbellsville. CU shot 13 times in the constest, three on goal, but was unable to punch one in. MMC found the net three times off four shots on goal, nine shots total.

The first MMC goal came in the 10th minute, when Jonathan Cabale found the net on an unassisted goal. Cabale scored again 10 minutes later in the 12th minute. This time, Kenneth Monge assisted Cabale's goal.

Heading out of halftime, Campbellsville couldn't get momentum rolling. Martin Methodist scored its third and final goal of the contest in the 60th minute when Jermaine Steele scored.

MMC freshman forward Mady-Gouda Dagbahio was red-carded in the 68th minute when he struck CU midfielder Maurizio Colonna in the face twice while the two advanced downfield.

CU keeper Max Malachiyev finished the game with one savein comparison to three from MMC keeper Stephen Lunney.

Campbellsville (4-3) will return to action in Finley Stadium on Wednesday, September 19 at 8 p.m. when they host Cumberland University in Mid-South Conference play.
