LEBANON, Tenn. — Campbellsville had as short a work day as possible Friday, dispatching Webber International and Martin Methodist in straight sets at the Cumberland University Volleyball Classic.
In the early-afternoon match the Lady Tigers beat Webber 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17 to move to 7-4 (2-1) and then ripped Martin Methodist 25-12, 25-15 and 25-17 for a one-day improvement to their record at 8-4 (2-1).

CU took advantage of some sloppy play by the Lady Warriors (7-4) to create working margins in all three sets.
In set 1, the Lady Tigers used three kills each by Laura DeGear and Daiane Souza to build leads of 14-9, 19-11 and 22-14. A kill by Haley Bechtel sealed set 1 at 25-19.
In set 2, Webber had 10 errors (13 in all) after tying the score at 12-all. Bechtel had a kill for a 22-19 lead and Kira Stewart's ace sealed the second-set win.
Webber cleaned up its game a bit in set 3, but Campbellsville used 16 kills, and a .520 hitting percentage, to pull away from a 10-10 tie. Rinata Aisena and DeGear had five kills each and Bechtel and Kelly Moyer added three each.
After two consecutive kills by DeGear in the middle of the set for a 15-12 lead, Audrey Sanders served up an ace and the Lady Tigers never looked back.
Webber had 25 attack errors in the match. By comparison Campbellsville had just eight to go along with a .281 hitting percentage to Webber's .111 percent.
DeGear, who played two years at Cumberland University before transferring for her junior and seniors seasons at Campbellsville, led CU with 10 kills. Aisena and Bechtel added seven each, Moyer five and Souza four. Stewart had 27 of the team's 33 assists and Sanders and Caitlin Dresing lead the team in digs with 11 and 10, respectively. Sanders had three service aces and Bechtel two.
Campbellsville vs. Martin Methodist
The Lady Tigers used 48 kills to dispatch the Lady RedHawks (4-7).
Daiane Souza led the way with 12 followed by Kelly Moyer (8), seven each by Rinata Aisena and Haley Bechtel, five each by Laura DeGear and Giselle Hernandez, Tara Robertson (2) and one each by Audrey Sanders and Kira Stewart.
Campbellsville raced to leads of 12-5 and 20-9 in set 1, utilizing 20 kills and a gaudy .438 hitting percentage. CU's first six points were kills, two each by Moyer, Aisena and Bechtel. Souza had a set-high six kills.
As in the first set Martin Methodist scored the first point, but before the RedHawks could catch their breath the Lady Tigers had constructed a 12-3 lead fueled by six MMU errors. Two straight Souza kills gave CU a 21-9 lead.
Campbellsville got out of the block fast in set 3 scoring seven of the first eight points. CU built a 16-7 margin on a Bechtel kill and after Giselle Hernandez picked up three kills the Lady Tigers led 19-8.
Campbellsville attacked at a .317 clip for the match. Against MMU, Bechtel had two service aces and Aisena, Sanders and Hernandez one each. Stewart had 40 of the team's 46 assists and Sanders and Caitlin Dresing led the team with eight digs each. Moyer had five digs and Lexis Lloyd (4).
Campbellsville will take the court again Saturday at the Cumberland University Volleyball Classic when it plays Lindenwood/Belleville at 10:00 and Freed-Hardeman at 2:00.
