COLUMBIA, Ky. — Campbellsville dominated Bluefield on the first night of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, winning in three sets and running its win streak to eight matches.
The Lady Tigers, 13-4 (4-1 MSC), took down the Lady Rams 25-14, 25-12 and 25-17. Bluefield falls to 9-7 (3-2 MSC).
A couple of Kelly Moyer kills got CU rolling in Set 1. Her delivery staked the Lady Tigers to a 12-6 lead that they built to 18-12 before closing out the set at 25-17.
In Set 2, kills my Laura DeGear and Daiane Souza punched out a 10-2 lead that was never threatened. Jana Kortas had three of her five match kills for three consecutive points, leading to a 21-12 advantage.
Bluefield played it a little closer in the third, but Rinata Aisena and Kelly Moyer knocked down a couple of late kills to seal the 25-17 win.
Haley Bechtel led the team with 10 kills. She was supported by Aisena (8), Souza (5), Moyer (4), and DeGear and Tara Robertson three each.
Caitlin Dresing had nine digs. Kira Stewart and Audrey Sanders had seven and six, respectively. Lexis Lloyd chipped in with five and Bechtel four.
Stewart (16) and Jackie Schwieger (14) combined for 30 of the team 32 kills.
The Lady Tigers are right back into action tomorrow at 1:00 when they play UVA-Wise in the second game of the MSC Crossover Tournament.
