Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – While heavy rains took over during pregame and the first half, Campbellsville University used a flood of goal scoring in the second half to pull away with a 7-2 win over Berea College at Finley Stadium.
For the third consecutive game, Swedish sophomore Gustav Carlsson posted a hat trick for the Tigers, scoring in the 18th and 15th minutes to give CU a 2-0 lead, and adding his third goal in the 72nd minute. He now has 11 goals and three assists on the season for CU.

Josiah Thomas put the Mountaineers on the board in the 30th minute to cut Campbellsville's lead to 2-1 at halftime. However, Andrew Nugent scored off an assist by Curtis Myers in the 59th minute to open the scoring flood gates in the final 31 minutes. Before Carlsson managed to secure his hat trick, Berea struck again in the 68th minute with a goal by Jesse Massucco.
The Tigers added three goals in the final seven minutes, including two in the final 60 seconds. Adam Lindserholm scored with 6:40 remaining, while Chris Moyo netted a goal with a minute to play off an assist from Tomas Arocha and Cody Alley. Pontus Yngve capped the night with a goal in the final 20 seconds, assisted by Roraigh Yearwood.
In the net, freshman goalkeeper Max Malachiyev was 0-for-2 on shots faced on the night. Aside from the two goals, the Tiger defense allowed only one other shot in the game, while CU's offense fired off 31 shots, including 20 on target. Caleb Stringer had 12 saves in goal for Berea.
Campbellsville (4-0) will return home to Citizens Bank Field at Finley Stadium on Friday, Sept. 7 to host Asbury University for an 8 p.m. EDT game.
