BARDSTOWN, Ky. – Lady Tiger golf improved its score by five strokes Tuesday but was unable to gain ground in the final round of the St. Catharine College Fall Invitation at the Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

Four of CU's five players saw improvement on their scores Tuesday as the Lady Tigers shot 327 in the second round. CU maintained its fourth-place position from Day 1 with a two-day score of 659.

"We played an all-freshman lineup and that's a lot of youth going out and competing," said Brent Vernon, CU women's golf coach. "I really want s to work on finishing better as we are giving away a lot of shots late in the round. All and all though, not a bad tournament. It's time to get ready for Panama City."

Cassidy Scantland led Campbellsville's all-freshman lineup with a 79-78 in her two rounds. She finished sixth individually. Olivia Parrott and Grace Gupton each shot an 82 Tuesday, improving by two and four strokes, respectively, from their first round scores. Ashley Goodin, who struggled on the back nine Monday, shot 85 Tuesday, while Anna-Marie Hyatt shot 83-86 for the tournament.

University of the Cumberlands ran away with the team title with a 615, led by low medalist Taylor Gillis' 79 and 72. Madonna University (Mich.) held onto second place with a 639 despite Lindsey Wilson closing the gap with a second-round team score of 312 and tournament score of 643. Sara Kiozumi shot 79 and 74 to lead LWC and finish second individually.

The tournament concludes CU's regular season fall lineup. The Lady Tigers will close the fall Oct. 21-23 in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Invitational, which will be played at the Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla.
