DECATUR, Ala. — Campbellsville could not pull off a hat trick at the Arctic Blast Softball Invitational, as the Lady Tigers won their first two before dropping game three of a marathon opening day.
Â
 Â
Campbellsville 2, Tennessee Wesleyan 0
Â
Taylor Borders busted up a no hitter by Brittany Kilduff with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Wesleyan 2-0.
Â
Brooke Boils walked to lead off the seventh, and then with one out Borders uncorked her homer to center on a 2-0 count.
Â
Wesleyan had only two hits in the game as Kelsi Pardue allowed only four runners to reach base while striking out 16.
Â
Pardue walked two in the second inning before retiring the side on Ks. Wesleyan got another runner on in the fifth. In the sixth Brooke Ward singled and reached second on a passed ball, but Pardue set TWU down again with consecutive strikeouts.
Â
Campbellsville 9, Bethel 5
Â
Taylor Wroe lasted only a third of an inning after being saddled with five hits and four runs, but the Lady Tigers got strong relief from Victoria Decker who pitched 5 2/3 innings of two-hit ball. Then Decker gave way to Martina Riney who picked up the save. Decker was spotted with her first career win.
Â
Campbellsville needed its best offensive production of the year to rally from the four-run deficit.
Â
Big in that category were Emma Napier's three triples. Borders collected three RBIs on a bases-clearing double in the fifth.
Â
Kristin Benton had two hits and an RBI and Kacie Vincent also collected two hits and scored twice. Alyssa Barker had a double and Adrean Jordan, who was the designated player, reached on a single in the decisive fifth frame.
Â
CU trained 4-3 until the five-run outburst in the fifth that helped the Lady Tigers to even their slate at 3-3.
Â
Belhaven 8, Campbellsville 5
Â
Campbellsville (3-4) had just as many hits (10) as Bellhaven, but in the end could not overcome a seven-run deficit after 4 ½ innings.
Â
Courtney Turpin was chased with two out in the first after giving up two hits and four walks while her teammates were committing two errors.
Â
The Lady Tigers crawled back to within 7-5 at the end of six innings after scoring three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Â
Martina Riney pitched 2 1/3 innings of five-hit ball, allowing two runs. Taylor Wroe cleaned up the last four innings by allowing three hits and two runs.
Â
Napier, Boils and Sara Paragon all had two-hit games while Benton, Heather Oakley, Barker and Vincent all reached safely once. Napier and Benton each had two RBIs. CU left nine runners stranded.
Â
Campbellsville's Brewton-Parker game on Saturday morning has been cancelled because of wet playing conditions. As of now, the game with No. 7 William Carey is still set for 1:00.
