White runner up, Lady Tigers sixth at MSC/SEKI Invite

LONDON, Ky. – Katie White shot a low round 76 Tuesday to finish second in the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament and SEKI Invitational, while Campbellsville University finished sixth out of nine teams at Crooked Creek Golf Club.





White led the Lady Tigers, rallying back from a sixth-place score of 84 on Monday for her 76 Tuesday. Her combined score of 160 was three strokes off the lead score of Cumberland University's Katie Legge, who finished 11 over par (157) to received low medalist honors after also shooting a 76 Tuesday. Legge was tied for the lead Monday with an 80.

Following White's lead for the team was MSC Women's Golfer of the Week, Kayla Kincer, who shot 88 and 90 in her two rounds to finish 25th with a score of 178. Meleigha Pollock tied for 28th and shot 182 (87 and 95), while Annie Schakat shot 220 for the two rounds (107 and 113).

The Lady Tigers were playing without their No. 3 player Caitlyn Wilkerson, who withdrew due to injury during the first round, and McLane Farr, who had student teaching responsibilities.

White and Legge were joined in the Top 5 by University of the Cumberlands' Shannon Bishop and Lindsey Wilson's Jennifer MacKinnon, who tied for third with a two-day scorer of 161. Liz Stephens (Cumberlands) was fifth with a 162.

University of the Cumberlands won the tournament with a score of 648, followed by Lindsey Wilson College (663) and Cumberland University (680). Campbellsville was fourth among MSC teams with a 740, while Madonna University shot 706 to finish fourth overall and Union College shot 716 to finish fifth in the SEKI Invitational.

With the two-day result, the University of the Cumberlands wins the 2012-13 Mid-South Conference regular season championship with an 11-1 record, while Cumberland University and LWC tie for second at 10-2. Campbellsville is fourth in the MSC regular season standings at 6-6, followed by Pikeville, Georgetown and St. Catharine College. The regular season record and standings are determined by combining the MSC Fall Tournament (Sept. 17-18 at Campbellsville) and the MSC Spring Tournament results.

The Lady Tigers will return to action Monday and Tuesday, April 8-9 at the Union College Invitational at Wasioto Winds Golf Club in Pineville, Ky.
