LONDON, Ky. – Campbellsville University men's golf shot a two-round score of 654 Monday and Tuesday to finish 12th overall at Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament and SEKI Invitational but sixth among MSC teams at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
With the result, CU finishes fifth in the Mid-South Conference regular season standings, which takes the combined results of the MSC Fall Tournament (Sept. 17-18 at Campbellsville) and the MSC Spring Tournament.
Scott Foster led the Tigers with at two-day score of 161, shooting 82 on Monday and 79 on Tuesday. Trey Shirley was one stroke behind at 162 after bouncing back from an 85 on Monday to shoot 77 Tuesday. Sawyer Stalcup (86 and 80) and Michael Newton (85 and 81) each shot 166 in the tournament to tie for 55th individually. Andrew Jansen shot 168 (88 and 80).
Alastair Tidcombe shot an even par, 144, to win low medalist honors and lead University of the Cumberlands (592) to the tournament win and regular season Mid-South Conference championship. The Patriots finished 23 strokes ahead of Holy Cross College (Ind.) in the SEKI Invitational and beat Lindsey Wilson College (616) by 24 strokes in the MSC Spring Tournament standings.
LWC finishes the MSC regular season second behind Cumberlands, while Cumberland University is third and Pikeville is fourth. UVA-Wise is sixth behind Campbellsville, while Georgetown College, St. Catharine College and Shawnee State University tie for seventh.
The Tigers will return to action Monday and Tuesday, April 8-9 at the NAIA Classic at Brickyard Golf Club in Indianapolis.
