SALEM, Ore. – Scott Foster battled wind, rain and temps in the low 50s Wednesday as he shot 9-over par (81) in the second round of the NAIA Men's Golf Championships.
Round 1 & 2 Scorecards
Foster teed off in the fourth pairing at 8 a.m. PDT, missing with a bogey on a par 5 first hole. He evened his score with a birdie on the fourth hole. Foster went on to bogey five and post back-to-back double bogeys on seven and eight to sit at 5-over for the day at the turn. He had three bogeys, a double and a birdie on the back nine.
Round three of the tournament continues at 7:30 a.m. PDT (10:30 a.m. EDT) Thursday. Foster will tee off at 7:50 a.m. PDT (10:50 a.m. EDT) on hole No. 10, paired up Central Methodist's Brad Howell and Blue Mountain's Austin Bynum. For a complete list of third round pairings, click here.
The Top 40 golfers following Thursday's round will advance to the final round Friday. Foster slid from a tie for 97th to a tie for 121 at 16-over par through 36 holes. The cut is currently at 5-over par.
Foster is one of six Mid-South Conference golfers competing in the championship event after qualifying as the MSC Tournament champion. University of the Cumberlands qualified as a team and is tied for sixth among 28 teams after shaving 10 points off its score in the second round. The Patriots are three strokes out of the Top 5 and seven strokes from third place. Alastair Tidcombe leads Cumberlands after two rounds with a 76 and 71, sitting tied for 18th at +3 for the tournament.
Oklahoma City's Anthony Marchesani leads the field at -6 after shooting -2 Thursday. The Stars have three individuals in the Top 5 and shot -3 on the day to move to -11 for the tournament, strengthening their lead to 17 strokes over Grand View University.
