JOLIET, Ill. – Campbellsville University track & field added an All-American to its record book Friday during the first full day of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Judson College.
Myra Rose placed third in the high jump at 1.65 meters to become the first NCCAA All-American for the 2013 outdoor track and field program.
Her points were the highest of the night in Campbellsville's team total, while three others helped earn team points for CU. Keisha Chiles and Tiosha Beasley finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the triple jump in marks of 11.83 meters and 11.79 meters, respectively. Christiana Harris finished eighth in the two-day heptathlon.
The Lady Tigers competed in five preliminaries with Chiles posting the fourth-best time in the 100-meter Dash in 12.44 seconds and also anchored the 4x100-meter relay to a fourth-best time to qualify for the finals on Saturday. Kelsey Feltner, Lauren Little, Beasley and Chiles ran the relay in 48.83.
In the men's competition, Tim Perdue and Jourdan Redmond finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the finals of the men's triple jump and men's 110-meter hurdles. CU's men's team also competed in five preliminaries, including a seventh-place qualifying time of 43.01 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay. The relay team was made up by Eurodger Bargblor, Redmond, Brandon Green and Bobby Mingie.
In the team competition, Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) leads both championship events by more than 30 points. The Lady Tigers are seventh of 22 teams so far with 16 points, while the men have four points and are tied for 13th among 19 teams.
